5 week countdown

Just booked a Brazil-India flight for visa purposes: can't pass up a bargain like São Paulo -> Lome -> Addis Ababa -> Mumbai!

Trip prep is well underway, here's a status update on some of the big pre-trip to-dos:

Inoculations:
Finished our typhoid pills, but since it's a live vaccine we need to wait a few more weeks before we can take yellow fever. Cutting it close since our doctor wasn't the most thorough on advice, and we might need yellow fever for entry to certain countries later.

Visas:
Submitting Brazil application tomorrow, next up are Bolivia and Paraguay. Very glad India introduced a new, easier 30-day visa a few months ago.

Insurance:
Booked both travel insurance (World Nomads) and post-job health insurance. Travel insurance to cover us on the road, and health insurance as backup in case something's bad enough for "repatriation". Healthcare.gov was surprisingly easy to use!

Equipment:
So far the major pre-trip side effect is daydreaming about REI constantly.
